Xevo G2-XS Tof vents after maintenance on the sample cone and cone gas nozzle - WKB106911

SYMPTOMS

  • Replaced cone and cone gas nozzle after performing maintenance
  • Turbo pumps start to slow down after opening isolation valve
  • Instrument vents when turbo speed slows too much
  • Cannot restart vacuum system
  • Vacuum menu options show both Pump and Vent

ENVIRONMENT

  • Xevo G2-XS Tof

CAUSE

Cone and cone gas nozzle do not seat properly when the isolation valve is opened.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. On the Tune page, go to the Vacuum menu and select VENT.
  2. Click YES when asked if you want to vent the mass spectrometer.
  3. Remove the cone and cone gas nozzle, leaving the isolation valve open.
  4. Reseat the cone and cone gas nozzle, leaving the isolation valve open.
  5. Go to the Vacuum menu and select pump.
  6. Allow the vacuum system to pump down.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This issue and the resolution applies to all mass spectrometers except the ACQUITY QDa Mass Detector and the Xevo TQ-GC.
