On 6890 Plus with manual injection, cannot acquire data without error - WKB99522

SYMPTOMS

• 6890 Plus manual injection cannot acquire data without error
• ALS injection acquires data normally

ENVIRONMENT

• Agilent 6890 GC
• Empower 3 Feature Release 4 Service Release 3 Hotfix 1
• Agilent ICF Support v3.1
• Agilent ICF Support v3.4
• Ethernet control

CAUSE

 Empower with ICF up to v3.4 cannot read the 6890 Plus prerun status during "Waiting for injection".

FIX or WORKAROUND

Upgrade to ICF Support 3.5.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Workaround for ICF 3.4 and lower:

1. Use RS 232 for controlling 6890 Plus systems.
2. Set up the 6890 Plus correctly in the serial ports tab of node properties.
3. Change the baud rate for the 6890 to 19200, and make the "end of command" CR (carriage return) instead of LF.
