How to adjust the seal wash solvent interval - WKB96281

Article number: 96281

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

For bioBSM PLUS applications that use high salts and buffers, adjust the seal wash solvent interval from 5.0 minutes (default) to 0.5 minutes to prevent salt buildup on the plunger and plunger seals and a decrease in life of the high-pressure seals.

IMPORTANT: The 0.5-minute seal wash flow is not executed until you download a method with the faster flow rate.

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY UPLC H-Class Bio
  • ACQUITY UPLC H-Class PLUS Bio
  • Empower 3
  • UNIFI Workstation

PROCEDURE

Adjust the seal wash solvent interval as follows, depending on your system software.

On Empower-based systems:

1. In the Solvent Manager instrument method, select the General tab, and then set the Seal Wash Period to 0.5 minutes.

2. Choose a method with the faster seal wash, and on the Run Samples page, select Set Up.

On UNIFI-based systems:

Navigate to the Selected analysis method > Instruments > Instrument Method Configuration > Binary Solvent Manager > General page. Under “General settings”, select Enable seal wash and specify an interval of 0.5 minutes.
