"Preheater configured but not detected" error for ACQUITY UPLC H-Class using a CH-30A with a CM-A - WKB80265

Article number: 80265

SYMPTOMS

  • "Preheater configured but not detected" error when configuring a CH-30A in a system with a CM-A

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY UPLC H-Class
  • Empower 3 FR4
  • ICOP 1.69 for the CM and 1.70 for the SM

CAUSE

Method is incorrectly configured in Empower to tell the software to ignore the empty APH slots on the CM-A.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. In the console for the column manager instrument configuration, choose the number of columns required.
  2. Go to preheater configuration on the column manager console page and choose Active, Disabled for the APH positions not used on the column manager.
  3. Go to the inlet method for the column manager and, for the Active preheater, choose Disabled or Use console configuration (either works).
  4. Go to the console sample manager page and, in the preheater configuration, select Active.
  5. In the inlet method for the sample manager, change the active preheater option to Enabled.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The setup above also works if a CM-Aux is present. However, the number of columns will be different compared with the screenshot in the attachment.
