OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Confirm Sample Manager (SM-FTN) status.

PROCEDURE

  1. Characterize Needle Seal:

In the console, go to SM-FTN > Maintain > Characterize needle seal and click Start.clipboard_e929a75fe54d50c4f89bb76e95f9893f8

If necessary, perform a Z-axis calibration before running the test, as it ensures proper alignment of the needle.

During the test, the needle will drop into the injection port and push against the spring to measure the seal constant. Ensure all components, such as the spring and needle seat, are properly aligned and functional.

After completing the test, verify that the seal constant falls within the acceptable range (8-11 N/mm). If the value is outside this range, inspect and adjust the needle seal components or replace them if necessary.

2. Leak test - Sample Syringe:

In the console, go to SM-FTN > Maintain > Leak test and select Start.clipboard_e217ae8b5eeff2037a155ed24843d7ac4

The sample syringe leak test verifies the sample syringe, metering syringe, valve, sample transducer and inject valve are free of leaks. This test also verifies the sample syringe is properly primed and no bubbles are present.  

3. Needle Seal Readiness Test:

Establish an appropriate pump flow and pressure ((e.g., ~0.6 mL/min for H/I-Class systems) to obtain a column backpressure of 6000-8000 psi.)

In the console, go to SM-FTN > Maintain > Needle seal readiness test and select Start.

4. System leak test

     In the console, go to QSM > Maintain > Leak Test.

Select an appropriate channel (A, B, C or D) with organic solvent. For BSM select A or B.

     As end point select column, include Sample Manager Needle and Seal.

     Install a pin plug in port 6 of the Sample Manager POD Injector. (What is the part number for the v-detail pin plug for the Acquity Systems? - WKB8137)

    Click Start.
