How to clean check valves on a 2695 Separations Module Alliance and ACQUITY UPLC - WKB5864

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

How to clean the Alliance check valves.

ENVIRONMENT

• Alliance HPLC System
• 2695 Separations Module
• 2795 Separations Module
• ACQUITY UPLC
• 2545 BGM
• 1525 Binary Pump
• ACQUITY Premier 

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the check valve housing from the pump head assembly.
2. Remove the check cartridge from the check valve housing.
3. Sonicate the check valve cartridge for ten minutes in a beaker of methanol or hot water, whichever is more compatible with the mobile phase being used.
4. Reinstall the check valve cartridge into the check valve housing, (ensuring that the arrow on the side of the cartridge points in the direction of the flow, for Alliance).
5. Reinstall the check valve housing into the pump head assembly.
6. Prime module.
