Error :Turbo power too high on QDa detector - WKB5646

SYMPTOMS

  • Error "Turbo Power too high" on the Console
  • A pulsing noise/vibration coming from the QDa
  • Turbo power reading 66W
  • Reset of QDa does not work
     

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY QDa detector

CAUSE

  •  Vacuum Leak in the source region caused by a bad aperture disk

FIX or WORKAROUND

Replace the aperture disc with the correct size ( See KB article 2319 - What is the aperture disc dimension on a QDA detector? for part number and dimension).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Under normal instrument operating conditions, the turbo power should be between 37 - 60W.

The average turbo power for most instruments is around 43W.
