ANSWER
If the detector has a serial number starting with A18 or higher, do NOT downgrade the firmware. These detectors contain a new PDA device that requires its native firmware. If the firmware is downgraded, there will be no signal whatsoever, resulting in a filter wheel "failure to home" error.
