ACQUITY UPLC PDA Detector Communication Failure and Shutter Erbium Filter errors in the console - WKB2385

SYMPTOMS

• Two errors are seen in the console:
  • PDA Communication Failure
  • Shutter Erbium Filter

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC PDA Detector
• ACQUITY UPLC PDA eλ Detector
• ACQUITY QDa Mass Detector
• Empower
• LAC/E 32

CAUSE

If the console is open when the PDA is rebooted, the PDA cannot fully communicate with the software.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Close all Empower windows and log out.
2. Turn off the PDA.
3. Reboot the LAC/E 32.
4. When the LAC/E 32 is powered-on, power-on the PDA and allow it to fully initialize to a solid green light.
5. Open Empower and the console.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In some cases it may be necessary to reboot the computer or LAC/E32 twice to establish communication with the PDA.
