Small peaks seen when injecting low volumes on Arc or ACQUITY SM-FTN system - WKB233781

Article number: 233781

SYMPTOMS

  • Significantly smaller peaks seen when injecting low-volume (≤1 µL) injections
  • Priming the sample manager for 50 cycles does not resolve issue

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY Arc Sample Manager FTN-R
  • ACQUITY SM-FTN

CAUSE

Air bubble in the purge solvent line.\

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Remove the two PEEK fittings above the sample syringe. Some siphoning may occur.
  2. Move the solvent bottle containing the purge solvent below ther sample manager.
  3. Reseat and tighten the PEEK fittings.
  4. Prime the sample syringe for 50 cycles.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This problem is more likely on the Arc system because there is no degasser on the purge solvent line.

On the non-Arc ACQUITY, the sample syringe leak test is expected to fail if there is air in the line.
