If a 2414 RI Detector is qualified via SQT in RIU mode, is it valid when run in 410 emulation mode, or vice versa? - WKB229828
ENVIRONMENT
- 2414 Refractive Index Detector
- Alliance SQT
- Arc SQT
ANSWER
In short, the answer is yes. The reason we provide SQT projects for both RIU (2414) mode and 410 mode is more to do with the driver and firmware than with the instrument. Prior to ICS 1.65 and firmware 2.10, the 2414 would only run in 410 mode when controlled by Empower.
When utilizing drivers and firmware at ICS 1.65 and firmware 2.10 and above, a customer may choose to run either mode. SQT is only required to be run in one mode and will be valid for both modes. The reason for this is RIU mode is not an "operational mode" of the instrument but simply a mathematical conversion within Empower software. The conversion is shown in the 2414 operators manual (715004754; page 83, table 5-7).
