Leak test fails on ACQUITY Solvent Manager - WKB20628

Article number: 20628

SYMPTOMS

  • Dynamic leak test fails on Primary and/or Accumulator pump
  • Pump head already rebuilt with new plungers, seals, tubing transducer/check valves (CV) and CV
  • Vent valve is functional
  • During the leak test the leak rate will drop and then gradually increase towards the end of the leak monitoring
  • High leak rate (>5000 nl/min)

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY UPLC BSM
  • ACQUITY UPLC H-Class Quaternary Solvent Manager (QSM)

CAUSE

Erosion of pump head and or seal wash housing and or support plant, seal wash housing will be etched with cross mark of the seal. 

FIX or WORKAROUND

Replace the required parts depending on level of erosion within pump:-

  1. Replace the seal wash housing on the failing pump, Part Number: 700002597
  2. Replace the support plant on the failing pump, Part Number: 700002601
  3. Replace the pump head of the failing pump, 15K head, Part Number: 700002595
  4. Rebuild seals, plunger and CV (Accumulator rebuild kit, Part Number: 700004746; Primary rebuild kit, Part Number: 700004747)
  5. Pressurize new seals for at least 15 minutes close to leak test pressure limit
  6. Perform dynamic leak test to confirm leak rate is within acceptable limit.
