Article number: 19517

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

To remove and reinstall the thin, colored PFE tubing onto the barbed fittings of a needle wash pump or BOS pump.

ENVIRONMENT

  • 2695 Separations Module
  • Alliance HPLC System
  • 2795 Separations Module
  • ACQUITY UPLC
  • ACQUITY SM

PROCEDURE

  1. Using a razor or similar cutting instrument, slice length-wise down the PFE tubing the full length of the barbed fitting.
  2. Remove the tubing from the barbed fitting.
  3. Using a tubing cutter (700001012), recut the end of the tubing. Ensure that it is evenly cut.
  4. Using a small awl or similarly shaped tool, widen the inside of the end of the newly cut tubing to make installation easier.
  5. Cut a piece of medium-grit sandpaper into a 1-2 centimeter square.
  6. Fold the sandpaper square in half between your thumb and forefinger.
  7. Use the sandpaper between your fingers to grip the PFE tubing approximately 2-3 mm from the end.
  8. Be careful not to squeeze the end of the tubing and collapse the opening.
  9. Gently guide the PFE tubing onto the barb of the needle wash or BOS pump until it is secure.
