Unstable/low pressure with ACQUITY UPLC - WKB117424

SYMPTOMS

• System shows drastically reduced pressure compared with expected values
• When priming the affected pump, the accumulator pressure trace looks unusual (more like a primary pressure trace)
• Unable to compress when performing dynamic leak test on affected pump
• No or very little solvent flow from vent waste tubing when priming affected pump
• Replacing the primary i2V check valve makes no difference to solvent flow or pressure traces
• No or very little solvent comes out of the frit when disconnected from the i2V

CAUSE

Blocked filter/frit

FIX or WORKAROUND

Replace the frit/filter that feeds solvent to the primary check valve.
