OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Clear a partially blocked flow cell so that back pressure returns to normal.

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY TUV / PDA

PROCEDURE

1. Select a mobile phase that is likely to dissolve precipitates.
2. Replace the column with a union, if necessary.
3. Start flow at a very low rate, keeping the back pressure less than the 1,000-psi maximum back-pressure rating for the flow cell.
4. Monitor the pressure. Reverse the flow to flow cell, if necessary ( i.e. put flow "IN" to "OUT" of the flow cell)
