2424 ELS error "Drift tube heater fell below its set temperature" - WKB112455

Article number: 112455

SYMPTOMS

  • Error "Drift tube heater fell below its set temperature (x.x °C)"

ENVIRONMENT

  • 2424 ELS

CAUSE

With the drift tube temperature set to 100 °C, instrument temperature dropped to a cooling mode during the run. The instrument cooled as a precaution against reaching over temperature limit. This resulted in reduced performance. A drift tube temperature below the tolerance of the method results in an error.

FIX or WORKAROUND

It is not recommended to set the drift tube temperature at its maximum of 100 °C. The maximum the drift tube temperature setting to maintain stability should be 95-99 °C.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In some cases due to high laboratory humidity, ambient room temperature, or low exhaust vent flow, the 2424 may trigger temperature alert sensor when set at its maximum value of 100 °C. In these cases it is recommended to set it to the maximum stable temperature or change location if environmental cause can be identified.
