SYMPTOMS
- UNIFI becomes unresponsive while processing peptide map analysis, does not proceed beyond 20-35%
- The server RAM utilization reaches 100%
- Other hardware overheads, such as CPU utilization or domain traffic (Ethernet utilization) are well below the maximum usage
ENVIRONMENT
- UNIFI 1.9.4
- waters_connect with UNIFI 1.9.13
- Other versions or UNIFI and waters_connect are likely to be affected
CAUSE
The target match tolerance for peptide fragments is set very wide, making comparison of observed fragments to theoretical fragments very complicated due to the large number potential matches and the many false positives among them.
FIX or WORKAROUND
In the Target by Mass setting, lower the Fragment match tolerance and/or the Target match tolerance and reprocess the data.
