How to detect compounds with halogens in UNIFI - WKB90155

Article number: 90155

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Identify compounds or candidate masses that may have halogens in their chemical structure.

ENVIRONMENT

  • UNIFI (all versions)

PROCEDURE

You can use Halogen Match search settings to filter your detected components for ions that contain halogen atoms. Halogen Match generates isotope patterns for all combinations of halogen atoms up to the number specified in the method. Detected components that match a generated isotope pattern are flagged in the results list when data is processed.

  1. In the "processing" parameter go to "Discovery Settings" and click "Halogen Match Settings".
  2. In the "Halogen Match" pane, select the "Enable halogen match" check box.
  3. Specify the parameters according to expected halogen numbers.
  4. Click "update" and reprocess the data.
  5. In the "Review" tab, in the "Component Summary" table, add a column named "Has Halogens". Candidate/identified masses that match the halogen isotope pattern are flagged with "Yes" in this column.
