Cannot log into UNIFI after MS Hotfixes applied - WKB828

Article number: 828

SYMPTOMS

  • Unable to log into UNIFI 
  • After typing in the username and password, not much more happens (UNIFI sticks at Initializing, My work tab only partially appears, etc.)
  • Inability to create new analysis
  • Inability to import data
  • Unexpected Error when viewing the Device Management section (see image attached below)
  • Unable to create an Analysis
  • Select New Analysis and nothing happens
  • MS updates (hotfixes) applied recently

ENVIRONMENT

  • UNIFI 1.8.1
  • UNIFI 1.7.0
  • UNIFI 1.8.2

CAUSE

Recently downloaded Windows update or hotfix, KB, from Microsoft.

NOTE: you can run the following command in a command prompt window to help in identifying if any of these hotfixes are installed on the PC.  List the KB numbers above in between the quotes, and the output will be saved in the "systeminfo.txt" file defined in the path specified.

2. You should be able to uninstall these updates like you do with loaded programs. Go to the control panel > Programs and features > view installed updates.  Select for the hotfix and click the Uninstall button.  Reboot the PC (depending on the hotfix, you may be prompted to do so).

3. To stop the update from installing again, you must hide it. In the list of available updates, right-click any update that you do not want to see again, and choose Hide Update.
