Microsoft Access error when trying to install Office on a UNIFI PC - WKB62377
Article number: 62377
SYMPTOMS
- Tried to install Microsoft Office software, but could not install it because Microsoft Access is already installed
- UNIFI 1.9.4 (or other version of UNIFI) is installed, but neither the engineer nor the customer have installed Microsoft Access
- MS Database Access Engine 2010 is present in Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features
ENVIRONMENT
- UNIFI 1.9.4
- Likely affects other versions of UNIFI as well (see Cause)
- MS Office
- Windows 7
- Windows 10
CAUSE
UNIFI data export to Excel requires that the 32-bit version of the MS Database Access Engine 2010 be installed on the PC. This is installed from the UNIFI DVD as a prerequisite.
FIX or WORKAROUND
- Remove the 32-bit version of the MS Database Access Engine 2010 from the PC.
- Install Microsoft Office.
- Check for 64-bit version of MS Database Access Engine 2010, and remove it if necessary (see Additional Information).
- Reinstall the 32-bit version of the MS Database Access Engine 2010 from the prerequisites folder of the UNIFI installation DVD.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If the 32-bit version of the MS Database Access Engine 2010 is removed by an installer, overwritten by the 64-bit version of MS Database Access Engine 2010, or a newer version of MS Database Access Engine is installed, that will break UNIFI's "Export to Excel" functionality. In that case, follow steps 3 and 4 above.
