Golden Rules of UNIFI PC Management I - Managing WIP - Work In Process - items - WKB208676
OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Review best practices for managing Work In Process (WIP) items on UNIFI or waters_connect/UNIFI PC (workstation or LND).
ENVIRONMENT
- UNIFI workstation
- UNIFI network
- waters_connect/UNIFI workstation
- waters_connect/UNIFI network
- Windows 7 UNIFI PC
- Windows 10 UNIFI PC
PROCEDURE
-
Do not let unsaved analysis build up in the "work in process" (WIP) list. This can affect performance and will cause delays when the time comes to upgrade.
-
WIP analysis with a blue circle with arrows
indicates that the analysis is in a running state. If the analysis stays in this state longer than expected, check the System Monitor to see if indeed the analysis is still running/present. If not present here, it could be that the analysis is stuck in a running state.
-
Do not close the portal window or reboot the PC while work is being saved. Depending on size, it can take a long time for the work to save. Be patient and wait until the save has completed.
-
If the PC is rebooted during the save process, the analysis will appear as an unavailable ("grayed out") or locked item in the WIP list.
-
If any WIP analyses are unavailable or stuck in a “running state”, contact your Local Waters Service Support representative.
