How to do a full reset or reboot in a UNIFI Network WorkGroup server environment - WKB17604

Article number: 17604

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Do a full reset in a UNIFI or waters_connect Network or Workgroup environment.

ENVIRONMENT

  • UNIFI server
  • UNIFI WorkGroup
  • UNIFI Network
  • waters_connect network

PROCEDURE

In environments where you have physical access to the LND, Clients, and server follow these steps. See notes at the end for environments where the clients and/or server are virtual machines or are physically inaccessible.

  1. Log off all UNIFI portals.
  2. Switch off all clients.
  3. Switch off LND.
  4. Switch on the MS Pump Override.
  5. Switch off MS electronics.
  6. Switch off UPLC modules.
  7. Stop the watservicehost or Waters UNIFI Service Host service on the server.
Note: if all instances of waters.servicehost.exe do not stop, you may have to manually stop them in Windows task manager.
  8. Reboot the server.
  9. Wait for all seven watservicehost processes to start up on the server (fourteen for waters_connect).
  10. Switch on the client.
  11. Log in to the portal and go to the Device Manager LND tab.
  12. Switch on LND (and log in to it so that it boots into Windows).
  13. Wait for the LND to come online in the Device Manager on the UNIFI portal.
  14. Switch on the UPLC modules.
  15. Switch on the MS electronics.
  16. Wait five minutes for the MS to boot up.
  17. Check the vacuum in the instrument console.
  18. If the vacuum is good, switch the pump override switch back to AUTO. This should be reflected in the software.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

It is becoming common for both servers and clients to run in virtual machines accessible only by remote log in, for example from the LND. In such a case, it may be impossible to reboot the server while the LND is turned off. Turning a virtual client off is possible from remote access, but turning it back on may require assistance from local IT. In this case, change the following steps thus:

3. Reboot the LND but do not switch off.
10. Ask local IT to start the client.
12. Reboot the LND again, If necessary, you may also reset the LND from Device Manager.
