How to reset the workstation in Device Management in UNIFI or waters_connect - WKB203173

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Reset the system to enable communications with the MS after an event (such as PC update, electronics reboot).

ENVIRONMENT

  • Xevo G2-XS
  • Xevo G3
  • Xevo TQ Absolute
  • Xevo TQ-XS
  • UNIFI Workstation
  • waters_connect Workstation

PROCEDURE

  1. Exit the System Console if opened.
  2. Open Device Management. Note that Device Management will be found in different places depending on your software version.
    For UNIFI 1.9.4, it will be found under Administration > Device Management. 
    For w_c up to 3.1.0, it will be found in UNIFI > Administration > Device Management.
    For w_c 3.2.0 and later, it will be found in the w_c hub as its own app.
  3. Go to the Instruments Systems tab and take the system "offline" by right-clicking and selecting Change Status.
  4. Go to the Workstation tab, find the workstation, and right-click to select the option to Reset Device.
  5. Click OK to the message "Are you sure that you want to reset this device?".
  6. Click close to the message "Reset Device Operation has completed successfully. Affected Instrument and Instrument Systems will be set to 'online' on completion".
  7. Verify on the Workstation tab that the computer's Status column says Online.
  8. Go to the Instruments System tab and change the system to ONLINE by right-clicking and selecting Change Status.
  9. Open the Instrument console and verify that all components are communicating. If not, from the Summary drop-down list, choose Reset Instruments.
  10. Wait for instruments to be idle, and then, in the Instrument Systems Summary panel, select Startup to Ready. 
  11. Assess system operation.
