How to disable Waters DHCP service TCP/IPv6 in Windows for Waters instruments - WKB15771

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Disable DHCPv6 (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol version 6) in Windows OS. (This should be disabled for the "Instrument LAN" network connection that is used for Waters instruments.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Windows OS
  • All Waters instruments
  • Empower, MassLynx, and UNIFI

PROCEDURE

  1. Navigate to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.
  2. Select "Change adapter settings" from the left-hand tree menu.
  3. Select and open the "Instrument LAN" connection.
  4. Click the "Properties" button, and clear the check box next to "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)".Disable_DHCPv6.png
  5. Next follow WKB9503 to disable IPv6 via the registry, so it is disabled on all adapters and cannot be re-enabled via GPO.
