NuGenesis SDMS stops archiving Empower projects - WKB74959

SYMPTOMS

• The following error message appears in the Archive agent log file:
  • Error encountered while invoking remote EVS Server objects. :The socket connection was aborted. This could be caused by an error processing your message or a receive timeout being exceeded by the remote host, or an underlying network resource issue. Local socket timeout was '7.23:00:00'..
• The Waters SDMS EmpowerDA DataExchangeService stops on the remote machine
• The Archive Agent was running a template to archive Empower projects with JCAMP conversion

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 8 SDMS
• NuGenesis 9 SDMS

CAUSE

One or more of the data files associated with the Empower project has only placeholder or header data in it and no actual data from an instrument. This often happens when Empower starts processing a method but aborts the processing partway through the method. Empower creates a placeholder .dat file for the channel; the file contains no data but passes the Empower project integrity checks; and the Empower toolkit returns an error message if any placeholder data is requested.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Archive this project into SDMS without JCAMP conversion.

Defect CRI-910 was filed for this issue.
