Unreadable text in reports printed from AB SCIEX Analyst software to NuGenesis UNIFY - WKB7019

Article number: 7019

SYMPTOMS

Text in reports printed from AB SCIEX Analyst software overlaps and is unreadable.

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS
  • AB SCIEX Analyst Software, v1.0 - v1.6.3

CAUSE

This is a known issue with text in reports printed from AB SCIEX Analyst software.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. NuGenesis UNIFY can compensate for the overlapped text with the "charSpaceRecalc" option in the UNIFY print driver. This option is activated with a registry key.
  2. Import one of the attached REG files to activate the "charSpaceRecalc" option for Analyst Software versions 1.0 through 1.6.3. UNIFY80_driver_fix_for_Analyst_Software_32bit.reg.txt UNIFY80_driver_fix_for_Analyst_Software_64bit.reg.txt.
  3. Some reports from Analyst require the charSpaceRecalc option to be active while other reports from Analyst look best when this option is inactive. If users print multiple report types from Analyst using the same machine, then some means to toggling the charSpaceRecalc key is necessary (such as importing or deleting the key).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Multiple registry keys are required for the various Analyst versions due to the way UNIFY applies the driver options to print jobs. UNIFY matches the name of the application that sends the print job against the registry keys. If the "Printed By" name is a match to a registry key, then UNIFY applies that option to the print job. The name that Analyst uses for its print jobs changes with each major version of the software. As a result, a new registry key must be in place for each new version of Analyst.

The attached files have registry keys for most known versions of Analyst Software, from version 1.0 to v1.6.3. In some cases, Analyst hotfixes also change the "Printed By" name, in which case, you must add a new registry key for the hotfix.

The name of the printing application is stored in the metadata in WebVision in the "Printed By" column.
