FIX or WORKAROUND
Set the "PrestartExcelAndKeepAliveForEdit" registry key to FALSE as per article WKB55896.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Out-of-memory errors on the NuGenesis LMS server will also be reported to the clients when they occur. In order to effectively diagnose this problem, first obtain this information:
- Memory usage of the eln.exe process(es) at the time of the error. Either take a screenshot of Task Manager or use the VMMap tool from Microsoft to get a memory snapshot of ELN.exe.
- Memory usage of the NuGenesis LMS server at the time of error. Look in Task Manager for java.exe. There will be three such processes on an LMS server: one for the LMS Server service, one for the LMS Job Manager, and one for the LMS Job Scheduler. Typically, the java.exe process for the LMS Server will have a much higher memory usage than java.exe for the Job Manager and Scheduler. Take a screenshot of this process in Task Manager, or use the VMMap tool.
- The LMS server's log file from the time of the error.
