What are the hidden registry keys for the NuGenesis LMS client? - WKB55896

- NuGenesis 9 LMS
- NuGenesis 8 LMS
ANSWER
There are two registry keys for the LMS client. The keys are set in the path below in the registry. They are not present by default. They take effect only if installed on the same machine as the LMS client, either on users' PCs/laptops or on the Citrix servers. If the key is not present, or if the key is present but the value is NULL, then the behavior is the same as if it were set to TRUE. The values are case-sensitive.
The keys are created in this registry path: HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Waters\ELN
- Name: PrestartExcelAndKeepAliveForEdit
- Type: String (REG_SZ)
- Value: TRUE/FALSE
- Comments: Effective only for NuGenesis 8 FR1 and later versions. If TRUE or not present, the LMS client starts an Excel.exe process on startup and keeps that process alive until the LMS client shuts down. If FALSE, the LMS client reverts to the pre-SR2 behavior: excel.exe starts when a user opens an Excel section and the process closes when the section is closed.
- Name: UseClipboardForExcelAuditTrails
- Type: String (REG_SZ)
- Value: TRUE/FALSE
- Comments: Effective only for NuGenesis 8 FR1 and later versions. If TRUE or not present, Smart Builder and the LMS client use the system clipboard in order to build the audit trail for Smart Builder forms. Because this option typically brings a performance compromise compared with pre-FR1 behavior, it is recommended that this key be set to FALSE on all LMS client installations.
