Error: "ORA-12592: TNS:bad packet" appears in the NuGenesis Archive Agent log files - WKB63883

SYMPTOMS

• The following error message appears in the NuGenesis AA activity log file:
  • ORA-12592: TNS:bad packet
• The NuGenesis Archive agent does not start

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 8 SDMS

CAUSE

The Archive Agent received a malformed packet from the database when it was retrieving the archive template details.

FIX or WORKAROUND

ORA-12592 errors are usually transient. Restart the NuGenesis RPC service in order to restart the Archive Agent. Ensure that the NuGenesis database is online when the service is restarted.
