How to configure Empower and NuGenesis for manual archive of projects - WKB62396

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Configure Empower and NuGenesis SDMS so that Empower projects are manually archived into SDMS.

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 8 SDMS
• Empower 3

PROCEDURE

1. In Empower, activate the "NuGenesis" option license. The presence of an activated "NuGenesis" license in Empower activates the SDMS Archive option in Empower
2. If you want to have SDMS archive projects when a project is deleted, activate the Archive-on-Delete option:
   1. Log in to Empower with a user account that has rights to modify system policies.
   2. Open the Configuration Manager.
   3. Click the View menu > SDMS Archive Properties.
   4. Select the check box "Archive When Project Deleted" and set the drop-list to "Archive: Selected projects".
   5. Click OK.
3. In SDMS, install the Empower 3 Proxy and Empower 3 Remote data adapters as described in the NuGenesis 8 Data Adapters Reference Guide.
4. Configure an Archive Template in SDMS as described in the Reference Guide and set the Grouping option in the template to "Empower Based".  This setting instructs the data adapter to look for projects that have been selected for manual archive or Archive-on-Delete, rather than looking for archive candidates by a date criterion.
5. Configure the NuGenesis Archive Agent to run the archive template. NuGenesis will now regularly poll the Empower database for projects that have been flagged for archive and proceed to archive those projects.
