How to modify the LDAP search criteria in NuGenesis SDMS - WKB61192

Article number: 61192

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Improve the performance of LDAP authentication in SDMS by changing the LDAP search criteria.

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 9 SDMS
  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS

PROCEDURE

  1. Edit the LDAP filter file (note: if the filter file does not exist, or if it does not have the file name as listed below, SDMS will use a default set of filters):
    • NuGenesis 8: Drive:\Program Files (x86)\NuGenesis 8.0\Common Files\ng80ldapfilt.conf
    • NuGenesis 9: Drive:\Program Files (x86)\Waters\NGSDMS\Common Files\ngldapfilt.conf
  2. There are two sections for this file. The section "people" is used when searching for LDAP user accounts in SDMS Administrator. The section "authentication" is used when SDMS authenticates a user with LDAP.
  3. Modify the LDAP filters in the file as needed. The filters must use valid LDAP query syntax. "%v" is the placeholder for the username as specified in SDMS.
  4. Save and close the file.
  5. The modifications take effect on the next LDAP authentication attempt.
