OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Change the server alias to a user-friendly name in an already-configured NuGenesis SDMS system.
ENVIRONMENT
- NuGenesis 8 SDMS
PROCEDURE
- Add a new entry to the tnsnames.ora file:
- Run the Waters Net Configuration Assistant.
- Add a new line to the file and type the user-friendly name into the Alias column. Copy the other parameters from an existing entry in the file.
- Click the Save button.
- Repeat these steps, or copy the modified tnsnames.ora file to all NuGenesis web/file capture servers and to all SDMS Administrator clients.
- Modify the server lists in SDMS:
- Log in to SDMS Administrator.
- Click Actions > Servers > Add.
- Type the user-friendly name into the input box.
- The new entry will appear in the Master List in SDMS Admin.
- Click Actions > Update Local List.
- Copy the NGLocalProjectList.xml file from the SDMS Admin client to the SDMS file capture servers.
- In SDMS Admin, remove the old, user-unfriendly name from the master list.
- Users see the "friendly" name when logging in to SDMS applications, and the existing file capture servers continue to run their templates without modifications.
