How to increase the FTP connection timeout for NuGenesis Managed Storage FTP sites - WKB48607

Article number: 48607

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

To increase the connection timeout period for NuGenesis Managed Storage FTP sites.  Longer timeouts allow the NuGenesis Transport Engine more time to transfer large files/sets of files to the FTP site.

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS
  • Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Windows Server 2012 R2

PROCEDURE

  1. Open the Control Panel > Administrative Tools. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
  2. Expand the Sites list and select the FTP site for NuGenesis Managed Storage
  3. Click the Advanced Settings button in the Actions pane on the right-hand side of the window
  4. Expand "Connections"
  5. Set the Control Channel Timeout to at least 900
  6. Click OK to the Advanced Settings box and click Restart under Manage FTP Site

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A typical NuGenesis server installation uses the "Default FTP Site" for storing the downloadable files from WebVision and a second FTP site for Managed Storage.  If there is any doubt as to which site is used for NuGenesis Managed Storage, then click on the Sites entry in IIS Manager, and take note of the port bindings for each FTP site.  Compare the port numbers here to the port numbers in the Managed Storage Location definitions in SDMS Administrator.  The FTP site binding which matched the location definition in SDMS is the site used for Managed Storage.
