OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Create an Auto-recovery file.

Auto Recovery is works on a timed interval. The clock starts when a user opens a section. Every minute that the section is open, ELN writes a copy of the data to the Recovery file.

  • NuGenesis 8 LMS
  • NuGenesis 8 ELN
  • NuGenesis 9 LMS

PROCEDURE

To create the Recovery File:

  1. Create a document and save it.
  2. Add an Excel section.
  3. Open the section and start adding content.
  4. Stop and wait for five minutes – keep the section open and note the time.
  5. After the duration of the time increment for auto-recovery, kill eln.exe in your session through Task Manager.
  6. Go to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Waters\NuGenesis ELN\8.0.1.0\Recover and check for Auto-Recover files.

To use the Recovery File to recover the Excel section:

  1. Re-launch the LMS Client and reopen the document that you were editing when you killed eln.exe in step 5 above.
  2. Double-click on the Excel section that you had open when you killed eln.exe in step 5.
  3. You will be prompted: “A recover file has been found. Do you wish to override the current file with the recovered one?”
  4. Click “Yes”.
  5. Excel will open and the content will match what was in Excel in before the simulated "crash". The Section will also update in LMS.
  6. Close Excel and then save and close the LMS document.
