ANSWER

The answer depends on the version of NuGenesis Data Adapters in use and the grouping option used in the SDMS Archive Template.

• NuGenesis 8 Data Adapters Release 2 and all earlier versions:
  • Project Based grouping: SDMS will NOT automatically archive empty projects.  Deletion of empty projects is therefore not applicable
  • Empower-based grouping: SDMS will archive and delete empty Empower projects, if such a project is deleted in Empower and the "SDMS Archive on Delete" option is set in Empower
• NuGenesis 8 Data Adapters Release 3 through NuGenesis 9.3.2 Data Adapters Release 6:
  • Project Based grouping: SDMS will automatically archive empty projects.  SDMS will not delete empty projects.
  • Empower-based grouping: SDMS will archive and delete empty Empower projects, if such a project is deleted in Empower and the "SDMS Archive on Delete" option is set in Empower
• NuGenesis 9.4.0 Data Adapters Release 7 and later versions:
  • Project Based grouping: SDMS will automatically archive empty projects.  SDMS may delete empty Empower projects if the "Empty Empower projects captured by Archive Agent can be deleted by Data Management" option is set in the DM configuration
  • Empower-based grouping: SDMS will archive and delete empty Empower projects, if such a project is deleted in Empower and the "SDMS Archive on Delete" option is set in Empower

"Empty" projects in Empower are those projects without injections or without results.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Enhancement request CRI-5800 has been filed to allow SDMS to delete the archived empty projects.
