NuGenesis LMS does not update the instrument or reagent inventories under certain conditions - WKB26211

SYMPTOMS

• A form is configured to update the LMS reagents inventory, the LMS instruments inventory, or both
• A document using that Smart Builder form is created in an LMS department where the signature workflow is set to "Automatic approval upon release"
• The form contents are editable but the LMS document is NOT saved; it remains in the "created" state after closing the Smart Builder form
• A user releases the document
• The inventories are not updated with the contents of the Smart Builder form

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 8 LMS
• NuGenesis 8 ELN

CAUSE

This is a defect in NuGenesis LMS. Releasing a document does an implicit Save on the document. In this case, because the document signature workflow is Automatic Approval, the document skips the majority of the steps within that workflow, and the inventory updates are not triggered. Defect CRI-2 has been filed for this issue.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. This issue does not occur if the document is saved to the database prior to releasing it.
2. The setting "Automatically save when finish section edit" should be set within the LMS user preferences for all users.
