The error "Unable to start Archive Template Builder application" appears when editing a NuGenesis archive template and the template does not use the Empower Results/Injections adapters - WKB245848

SYMPTOMS

  • The following error message appears when creating or editing an archive template in SDMS Administrator:

    "Unable to start Archive Template Builder application" 
    Possible reasons:
    Failed in getting template data from database. 
    (Unable to get the template details to edit.) 
    1. Cannot get template data from database.
    2. Not all EVSs included in the template are installed on the machine.
    3. Template update failed.

  • The template does NOT use the Empower 2 or Empower 3 Injections/Results adapters; if it does, see article wkb16931

  • The following message appears in the Archive Template Builder log file: "The template version in string doesn't match the one given by the toolkit"

  • The template is in a project that was imported into SDMS Administrator

CAUSE

Unknown

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Re-create the template if possible.
  2. If not possible, obtain a copy of the full ATB log file from Drive:\Program files (x86)\Waters\NGSDMS\PM\YYYYMMDD.log.
  3. Send the log file to Waters technical support for analysis.
