Antivirus scanning interferes with the SDMS archive process - WKB112583

SYMPTOMS

• A file is not archived from a given SDMS Archive Agent scan path, while other files are archived during the same scan process

• The problematic file or files are created TE_TEMP as 0 KB files with a corresponding GUID, eventually display the expected file size, but then immediately disappear from TE_TEMP

• An error message is generated in the AA activity log that reads "Could not restore the pending file (path to file in TE TEMP). This file will not be archived."

   

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 9 SDMS
• NuGenesis 8 SDMS

CAUSE

An antivirus executable called Parity.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Agent\Parity.exe), which is from Carbon Black, Inc., interacted with the file in TE_TEMP during the archive process.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Disable antivirus scanning or exclude TE_TEMP from scanning.
