Error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password" in the NuGenesis Archive Agent log file - WKB10296

SYMPTOMS

• The following error message appears in the NuGenesis Archive Agent log file:
  • "Error category : 1 System Code (1326) - Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 8 SDMS

CAUSE

The username assigned to the NuGenesis RPC service on the NuGenesis AA server is not known to the machine that the AA tried to access.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Change the NuGenesis RPC service account to one that is recognized by all of the machines to which it will connect. Using a domain account for this purpose is recommended because all machines in the domain will then recognize the account.
2. If the Archive Agent will access a machine outside of its own domain, ensure that a trust relationship exists between the domains so that the client machine will accept the domain account.
3. If the Archive Agent will connect to a machine that is not joined to a domain, define a local user account on the machine with the same name and password as the domain account.
