Install MassLynx on a PC

- Check you have the appropriate MassLynx SCN (Software Change Note) for your operating system and compatible mass spectrometer by checking this article:
What is the latest version of MassLynx Software that supports my MS instrument? - WKB554 - Ensure that your key disk for necessary optional software is available in a readable form.
- Log in to the Waters-supplied PC with a local Administrator account.
- Insert the MassLynx media into your PC or download the software (from Digital Download) onto teh PC (use a local copy, not a network copy)
- Launch Setup by navigating to the SCN software folder, right-click the setup.exe file, and select Run as Administrator.
- Select YES for Java License agreement and press Next several times to finish.
- If there is an error message about the Java installation, select continue to MassLynx installation.
- Accept the MassLynx license agreement.
- Choose the instrument to install or "no instrument" for processing only.
- In Options, select the appropriate item from Security.
- From Information, select the storage location for the MassLynx folder (Must Be C:\).
- Select Allow MassLynx to rename existing folder (recommended).
(If this fails, halt the installation, reboot the PC, and rename the MassLynx folder manually. - Select No for Staggered Chromatography (if applicable - removed in later software).
- Select the appropriate optional software Application Managers (e.g. TargetLynx etc) and click Install.
- Select the appropriate location of your key disc (identified in step 2). Note: You may need to press OK several times if several Applications managers are installed.
- Click Finish.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Note: Only computers supplied by Waters with a Waters image are supported for MassLynx acquisition use.
