How to update retention times in TargetLynx - WKB78841

Article number: 78841

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Update retention times in TargetLynx. (If a compound is not automatically identified by TargetLynx because the retention time is outside the retention time window, you can easily set the retention times to their current values.)

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx
  • TargetLynx

PROCEDURE

This can be done in two different ways:

From within TargetLynx:

Update the retention times using the following command:

update rt 1.png

The retention times in the processing method update using the chromatogram that is currently loaded in TargetLynx. After reprocessing of the dataset, all compounds will be correctly identified.

From within the Sample List:

Use the column “Quan Reference” in the Sample List to automatically update retention times in the TargetLynx processing method.

Samples marked with “x” are used to update the retention times when processing the data set.

update rt 2.PNG

When multiple samples are labeled “x” AND in the processing method the “Update method times using multiple samples?” option is activated from the user-defined properties tab, the average retention time of the samples marked with “x” is used. When the “Update method times using multiple samples?” option is not activated, only the first sample marked with “x” is used.

Once the method times are updated, it may be useful to export the processing method from TargetLynx (File > Export > Method) to make it available for future use.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

You can use the same procedure to update ion ratios.
