MassLynx MS method does not open - WKB6356

SYMPTOMS

• Selecting the MS method from the lozenge on the left panel of MassLynx does not open the MS Method Editor window.
• Right-clicking on an MS method file name in the Sample List and selecting Edit does not open the MS method. Nothing happens.

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx

CAUSE

Windows Defender is running but is not supported with MassLynx

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Disable Windows Defender:
2. Exit MassLynx.
3. Open Windows Explorer.
4. Right-click on Computer and select Manage.
5. Expand Services and Applications.
6. Expand Services.
7. Browse to Windows Defender.
8. Right-click on Windows Defender and select Stop.
9. Right-click on Windows Defender and select Properties.
10. Change the startup type to Disabled.
11. Select Apply and OK.
12. Run stopACQUITYprocesses and then start up MassLynx.
13. The MS method editor can now open.
