NIST library search fails: No Libraries Specified in MassLynx - WKB6032

Article number: 6032

SYMPTOMS

The following errors appear when the user tries to search the NIST libraries from the Spectrum window (Tools > Library Search):

  • NIST MS Search 2.0: Error: no libraries were specified.
  • Library Search List: The libraries in the search list differ from those currently selected in the NIST MS Search...Ensure NIST MS Search has been closed before continuing.

The NIST library search list (at NIST > Options > Library Search Options> Libraries tab) is blank.

ENVIRONMENT

Any version of MassLynx 4.1 with any version of NIST libraries.

CAUSE

The user has not configured the NIST Libraries search list in MassLynx (at Tools > Search Library (blue icon), and then File > Search List in the Library window).

FIX or WORKAROUND

Configure the NIST libraries search in MassLynx (at Tools > Search Library (blue icon), and then File > Search List in the Library window).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

MassLynx must be able to update NIST with the correct search list, as specified in MassLynx. Do not manually configure the search list in the NIST window.

If the Search List is changed in MassLynx, the NIST search window is already open, and the user has manually configured a search list in NIST that is different from what is specified in MassLynx, then the error "The libraries in the search list differ from those currently selected in the NIST MS Search" appears.
