On the tune page, the desolvation temperature changes when acquisition starts - WKB51448

Article number: 51448

SYMPTOMS

  • The tune page is set to a particular desolvation temperature, but as soon as the acquisition starts, the value changes and the system waits for the desolvation temperature to settle.

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx
  • Synapt HDMS
  • Xevo G2 QTof
  • Xevo G2 Tof
  • Xevo G2-S
  • Xevo G2-S QTof
  • Xevo G2-S Tof
  • Xevo G2-XS
  • Xevo G2-XS QTof
  • Xevo G2-XS Tof

CAUSE

Corrupted files associated with the tune page

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Exit MassLynx.
  2. Browse to the C drive.
  3. Browse to the MassLynx directory.
  4. Browse to the instrument's directory (for example, a SYNAPT HDMS is named Bluewater).
  5. Search for these three files: Nonstorageexp.exp, tuneprm.ipr, and tuneexp.exp
  6. If any are found, move these files out of the instrument directory to a safe location like the desktop.
  7. Restart MassLynx.
  8. Open the tune page to verify that there are no error messages.
  9. Test the system. If all is well you can discard the files moved to the desktop.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

When MassLynx is restarted and the tune page opened, MassLynx should regenerate the nonstorageexp.exp, tuneprm.ipr, and tuneexp.exp files. The regeneration of these files often resolves the issue. However, if there is an error stating file(s) are missing, exit MassLynx and put back the specific file(s) from the desktop to the instrument folder.

NOTE: This also applies to other Tune page settings, such as Lockspray Capillary Voltage.
