MassLynx software randomly unresponsive, requires a hard reboot of the PC - WKB49926

SYMPTOMS

• MassLynx randomly shows "Not Responding" status (spinning donut cursor)
• Requires hard reboot of the PC
• Found: number of .raw files in DATA folder is 365
• Found: more than 225,000 files in the DATA folder

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx 4.1 SCN 855
• Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit SP1

CAUSE

Number of files in the data folder is very high.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Create new project.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Although the number of .raw files in the DATA folder was not high, due to the number of functions in the MS method (57), the number of individual files was very high. The indexing of this large number of files was likely the root cause of the issue.
