How to submit a batch to the MassLynx Queue automatically - WKB242157

Article number: 242157

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Add sample batches to the MassLynx queue automatically (for example, via electronic lab notebook) without using OALogin.

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx
  • AutoLynx

PROCEDURE

Use AutoLynx, which is provided with all MassLynx installations and is accessed via C:\MassLynx\AutoLynx.exe.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

AutoLynx takes an OLB file (OpenLynx Batch file) and passes this to the MassLynx queue. This file can be created automatically by third-party software.

When the OLB file is placed in the AutoLynx "Queue" folder, MassLynx processes the sample batch as though it were placed into the MassLynx queue.

Open AutoLynx and select Settings to see the comprehensive Help:

AutoLynx is an application that enables batches to be submitted to the MassLynx queue for acquisition, processing and report generation. It allows the number of jobs in the queue to be monitored. AutoLynx must be running on the same PC as MassLynx, but the Queue and other directories can be anywhere on the network. Applications can be written (for example, in Visual Basic) that create batch files and process the results returned after the data has been acquired and processed by MassLynx. The application creating the batch files must:

  • Create batch files in the correct format.
  • Write the batch files to the Queue directory.
  • Monitor the Status file to determine when a batch has been processed.
  • Retrieve processed files from the Processed directory.
  • Create an abort file when necessary.
