How to set up a solvent delay method event in MassLynx - WKB23296

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Direct the solvent flow to waste at the start of an injection, to avoid putting salts into the MS.

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx
• Xevo TQ-S

PROCEDURE

In MassLynx:

1. Click MS method.
2. Select Options > Method events.
3. Click Enable.
4. Confirm that the flow state in the Initial Settings is set to LC if making injection.
5. Specify the following:
   Time/mins: 0.01
   Event: Solvent Delay
   Action: Begin
6. Click Add to populate the table with the information from step 5.
7. Specify:
   Time/mins: 1.5 (or the desired end time)
   Event: Solvent Delay
   Action: End
8. Click Add to populate the table with the information from step 7.
9. Click OK.
10. Select File > Save or Save As to save the method.
11. Make an injection.

Note: No data is collected while the solvent flow is directed to waste.
