OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Downgrade Java components to the versions required for MassLynx if they have been upgraded.

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx 4.1
• MassLynx 4.2
• Java 3D v1.3.1 (OpenGL) Runtime
• Java 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 17

PROCEDURE

1. You can install the Java software from the MassLynx installation media for your system. 
2. Remove the currently installed version of Java from the PC through Control Panel > Programs and Features.
3. Restart the PC.
4. Insert the MassLynx media into the DVD drive. Use the same version/SCN that is currently installed.
5. Run the Setup.exe file on the MassLynx disk.
6. The the two Java components are installed automatically as prerequisites. Use all the default selections, just clicking Next. Click Finish when it comes up.
7. When the first page of the MassLynx installation appears, click Cancel. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This procedure works for any Software Change Note (SCN) of MassLynx 4.1 and 4.2.
