OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Set up a proxy PC (stub network) in order to isolate an acquisition PC from the company network.

Connect the corporate network to NIC 1 on the proxy PC.
Configure NIC 1 on the proxy PC per guidelines for the corporate LAN.
Connect the acquisition PC NIC 2 to NIC 2 on the proxy PC.
Create a network between the proxy PC and the acquisition PC.
- Set NIC 2 on the acquisition PC to a static address. For example, choose 172.16.0.2 with subnet mask 255.255.0.0. Make sure this does not conflict with the corporate LAN or the instrument LAN.
- Set NIC 2 on the proxy PC to a static address. It must be in the same network. So if 172.16.0.2 was chosen above, then choose 172.16.0.1 with subnet mask 255.255.0.0.
You can now configure NIC 1 on the acquisition PC for the instrument LAN.
