Which fields in the MassLynx sample list can be used to carry text information into TargetLynx? - WKB18596

Article number: 18596

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx 4.1
  • TargetLynx XS

ANSWER

The Subject Text, Task, Submitter, and Conditions columns in the MassLynx sample list allow a user to enter text. This information is pulled into the TargetLynx results file, which can then be displayed in the Summary bar.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Note that these fields behave differently.

To get text information in the Task, Submitter, and Conditions fields into TargetLynx, the sample list being used for the data acquisition must contain the required text information, so that the information becomes part of the raw data. When TargetLynx processing occurs, TargetLynx looks in the raw data to populate the Task, Submitter, and Conditions fields (not the sample list used for the processing, if different).

To get text information in the Subject Text field into TargetLynx, it is only necessary for the sample list being used for the processing to contain the required text, because in order to populate this field, TargetLynx does not look in the raw data files. This means that if samples are being reprocessed, it is possible to modify the Subject Text in the sample list and thus change the Subject Text that is displayed in TargetLynx. It is not possible to do the same with the the Task, Submitter, or Conditions fields.
